About Annie
My obsession is water and especially the ocean. I find myself mesmerised by the reflections, colours and changing moods of water and I am never happier than when I am swimming, surfing, diving or paddling in our beautiful Geographe Bay. As an ‘outdoors type’ I take great delight in being in nature. My frequent travels have shown me the colour and diversity of our unique Australian landscapes which are a constant source of inspiration. Living in the South West of Western Australia, I have many opportunities to immerse myself in the beauty that is our region and the unique light and colour it has to offer. I am never short of something I want to paint.
I work mainly in oils and acrylics but love to experiment with many other media including soft pastels, lino printing, screen printing, ceramics, and textiles. Being creative and inventing new ways of using materials keeps me interested and challenged.
I have always loved Art and studied Art at school and university in the late 70s. I combined my Art studies with my Teaching Diploma and took my first teaching job in the South West in 1980. After moving to Bunbury, I continued my tertiary Art studies and still love to learn from other artists. I consider myself a life-long learner as there will always be something new and exciting to experiment with.
My Art has offered me endless scope and a varied career. I have now finished my career as an Art Teacher and can devote my time entirely to my Art practise as this brings me great joy.
